The following are our guiding principles for digital technology and data use in the ICS. They give us a framework to work within that ensures responsible, inclusive, and effective digital transformation:
- Person-centric: Create digital services that focus on people's needs. This means making sure services work well for everyone, from local residents to ICS staff. Our aim is to make interactions simple and easy to understand.
- Collaborative: Work together with others across the system to learn and grow. We'll share our work openly to encourage teamwork.
- Inclusive: Make digital services that everyone can use. We recognize that people have different needs and abilities. This means removing barriers related to disabilities, income, language, and other factors to ensure fair access for all.
- Aligned: Make sure all our digital projects and investments work together across the ICS. This helps us achieve clear benefits and get good value for money.
- Ethical: Use digital technologies in a responsible way. This means following the Nolan Principles, which guide us to act as stewards; to act fairly, respect privacy, and protect people’s rights.
These principles guide our approach to digital transformation. To put them into practice, we need to create the right environment for success. This means ensuring teams and leaders can have meaningful discussions, setting up appropriate structures and providing access to the right information. To achieve our vision, we need to enable these key capabilities:
- Leadership: We need leaders who can guide and inspire others to use digital technology and data effectively.
- Governance: We need clear rules and processes to manage digital projects responsibly. This helps us make good decisions and use data wisely.
- Capability: We need to help everyone across the system to learn how to use digital tools and data. We also need to support our community in using digital services.
- Data: We need to use data to make better decisions, improve our services, and help our local communities.
